This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing Panduit Fusion-Splice Connectors for loose tube fiber with a 900μm build-up.

Screwdriver, Fiber cleaver, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Fusion-splice connectors, Build-up tubing, Splice protection sleeves, Lint-free wipes, Fiber cleaning solution
- Prepare the splice machine
Follow the initiation steps specific to your splice machine, including powering up, performing arc tests, and conducting necessary cleaning and maintenance.
- Strip the fiber
Strip at least 45 inches (115cm) of the outer jacket from the fiber and remove any aramid. Ensure there is approximately 1 inch (3cm) of inner jacket to encapsulate in the fanout kit.
- Assemble the connector
Place the connector rear housing and boot assembly onto the field fiber, followed by the splice protection sleeve. Ensure both slide over the build-up tube.
- Clean the fiber
Strip approximately 30mm of acrylate off the fiber and clean the bare fiber using lint-free wipes and fiber cleaning solution, following proper safety precautions.
- Cleave the fiber
Cleave the bare fiber to a length of 10mm and place it into the left-side fiber holder according to your splice machine's instructions.
- Insert the connector assembly
Open the connector assembly blister pack and place the connector assembly into the disposable plastic holder with the fiber stub protruding to the left.
- Close the holder
Close the holder on the right side of the splice area, ensuring the field fiber and stub fiber are about 1mm apart.
- Start the splice process
Close the wind cover of the splice stage and start the splice process according to your machine's settings.
- Complete the splice
After the splice is completed, follow the machine's instructions to perform a tension test and avoid touching the fiber until it is complete.
- Finalize the assembly
Once the splice protection sleeve is in place, slide it up to the rear of the fiber holder, then open both holders and assemble the connector parts.
