How to Install a Panduit EL2P PDU
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for qualified personnel to install a Panduit Rack Power Distribution Unit (PDU) into a datacenter rack or cabinet, covering mounting, grounding, and power connection.

#2 Phillips screwdriver, T10 Torx screwdriver, 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench
Supplies needed:
Mounting hardware (e.g., cage nuts), Ground bonding cable or Panduit Grounding and Bonding Jumper kit
- Mount the PDU into the Rack
Determine the appropriate mounting method for your PDU (vertical 0U or horizontal 1U/2U). For vertical PDUs, insert the pre-installed mounting buttons into the keyhole slots on the rack's PDU mounting bracket and secure with a #2 Phillips screwdriver to 3.0Nm. For horizontal PDUs, install cage nuts at the desired U locations on the front and/or rear equipment rails, then screw the PDU's mounting bracket ears into the rails. For high-power horizontal PDUs, also secure the front mounting brackets to the PDU chassis using a 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench.
- Ground the PDU
WARNING: High leakage current. Ensure a reliable grounded (earthed) connection before connecting power distribution products to AC power to reduce the risk of electric shock. Connect a ground bonding cable from the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis to a grounding strip, grounding bus bar, or a known earthed reference terminal in the building. Ensure the conductor size meets national or local electrical codes (e.g., 14 AWG for up to 15A, 12 AWG for up to 20A, etc.). This step must be performed by qualified personnel.
- (Optional) Adjust Network Controller Orientation
If a specific orientation for the network controller's physical ports is desired, use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the two retaining screws. Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable to prevent damage, then rotate the controller to the preferred orientation. Reconnect the ribbon cable, ensuring correct orientation and avoiding pinching. Finally, re-install and torque the two screws to 2.2–3.1 lbf-in [0.25–0.35 N-M] using a T10 Torx screwdriver. WARNING: Overtightening may cause metal deformation.
- Connect the PDU to a Power Source
WARNING: All connections must be made by qualified personnel and adhere to local and national electrical codes. Ensure the feed circuit breaker for the power source is OFF. Verify all circuit breakers on the PDU are set to ON. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated, grounded branch circuit. Refer to the PDU's compliance label for input ratings. Once connected, turn the feed circuit breaker ON and wait for the operating system to load and the Main Menu to display.
