How to Install Star Teck Extreme STE125 Cable Fittings
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation and wiring of Star Teck Extreme STE125 cable fittings, ensuring a secure and sealed connection. Always disconnect power before installation and ensure installation by a qualified electrician.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Wire strippers, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
Star Teck Extreme STE125 cable fitting, Armored cable
- Disconnect Power and Select Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect all power to the circuit before beginning installation to prevent risk of electrical shock. Select the appropriate Star Teck Extreme STE125 fitting that accommodates your enclosure and cable specifications.
- Prepare the Cable Armor
Determine the required working length of conductors inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor and trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length indicated in the product table (Figure 1). CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Feed Cable into the Fitting
Feed the prepared cable through the gland funnel entry. Push the cable until its armor firmly contacts the armor stop inside the fitting (Figure 3). Ensure proper positioning, as mispositioned cable armor may result in improper cable armor grounding. If the inner conductor bundle will not pass through, unscrew and discard the armor stop (Figure 6), then repeat this step.
- Secure and Seal the Fitting
Tighten the gland nut until you obtain an appropriate seal or to the maximum torque specified in the product table (Figure 4). Verify that the bushing and collar ring seal evenly around the cable’s outer jacket and are flush with the glandnut face (Figure 5). Ensure the cable remains centered within the fitting to obtain an optimal seal.
