How to Install Star Teck Extreme STE Cable Fittings
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe and proper installation of Star Teck Extreme STE series cable fittings, including cable preparation and sealing procedures. Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

- Disconnect Power and Select Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect all power to the circuit before beginning installation to prevent risk of electrical shock. Select the appropriate STE cable fitting (e.g., STE100GRL) that accommodates your enclosure and cable specifications.
- Prepare the Cable
Determine the required working length of conductors inside the enclosure. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor and trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length specified in the provided table (Figure 1). CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process. Refer to the table for the correct strip length, which should match the length of the glandnut (Figure 2).
- Feed Cable into Fitting
Feed the prepared cable through the gland funnel entry. Push the cable until its armor firmly contacts the armor stop inside the fitting (Figure 3). Verify the cable armor is correctly positioned to ensure proper grounding. If the inner conductor bundle does not pass through, unscrew and discard the armor stop (Figure 6), then repeat this step.
- Secure the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut until an appropriate seal is achieved or to the maximum torque specified in the table (Figure 4). Ensure the bushing and collar ring seal evenly around the cable's outer jacket and are flush with the glandnut face (Figure 5). Keep the cable centered to obtain an optimal seal.
