This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of Star Teck™ Extreme cable fittings, ensuring a secure and sealed connection for armored cables. Always disconnect power before installation and ensure a qualified electrician performs the work.

- Select the Appropriate Cable Fitting
Choose a Star Teck™ Extreme cable fitting that is suitable for both the enclosure and the specific armored cable you are using. Refer to the product specifications for compatibility.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
Determine the required working length of conductors inside the enclosure or device. Remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Use a hacksaw to cut the armor, then trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length specified in the table (Figure 1). CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Verify Cable Strip Length
Ensure the prepared cable's strip length is equal to the length of the glandnut. Consult the table in Figure 2 for the appropriate strip length for your specific fitting and cable.
- Insert Cable into Gland Funnel
Carefully feed the prepared cable through the gland funnel entry. Push the cable until its armor firmly contacts the armor stop (Figure 3). Improperly positioned cable armor may result in compromised cable armor grounding. If the inner conductor bundle does not pass through, proceed to step 5 to remove the armor stop.
- Remove Armor Stop (If Necessary)
If the inner conductor bundle will not pass through the fitting, unscrew and discard the armor stop (Figure 6). After removing the stop, repeat step 4 to feed the cable through the gland funnel entry.
- Secure the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut until an appropriate seal is obtained or to the maximum torque specified in the table (Figure 4). Verify that the bushing and collar ring seal evenly around the cable’s outer jacket and are flush with the glandnut face (Figure 5). Ensure the cable remains centered to achieve an optimal seal.
