How to Install Star Teck™ ST100-469 Cable Fittings

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing Star Teck™ ST100-469 cable fittings, ensuring a secure and sealed connection for armored cables in various electrical applications. Disconnect power before installation.

Estimated time: 20m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw, Wire strippers, Wrench

Supplies needed:

Star Teck™ ST100-469 Cable Fitting, Armored Cable

  1. Select the Appropriate Fitting

WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. CAUTION: Product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate Star Teck™ cable fitting (e.g., ST100-469) that matches the enclosure and the armored cable being used. Refer to the product table for specific dimensions and ranges.

  2. Prepare the Armored Cable

Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor to the specified strip length (for ST100-469, refer to the table for the exact strip length). Trim the outer jacket to adjust the exposed armor strip length. CAUTION: Ensure you do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.

  3. Insert Cable into Fitting

Feed the prepared armored cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable until its armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting. The design of the fitting does not require disassembly for this step.

  4. Secure the Gland Nut

Tighten the gland nut using a wrench until an appropriate seal is achieved or to the maximum torque specified in the table (for ST100-469, the maximum torque is 700 in-lbs). Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and the cable remains centered to obtain an optimal, watertight seal.
