3/4 Inch, 45 Degree Angle, for Type B FNMC Liquidtight Fitting and Flexible Non-metallic Conduit, IP66 and IP68 At 2 Meters. Use Only With TB Conduit LTC075 or LTC075 to 1. Weather Stablized Thermoplastic Material 200 PiecesHow to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors with flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability in electrical installations.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw or Power Band Saw, Metal Jig (optional), Smooth Jaw Wrench, Torque Wrench, Hand Protection (Gloves), Eye Protection (Safety Glasses)
Supplies needed:
Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit, T&B Liquidtight Connector, Locknuts (if not included or for specific series), Sealing Gaskets (for knockout applications, if required), PVC Cement (for PVC coated connectors, if needed)
- Review Safety Information and Disconnect Power
Before beginning installation, read and understand all instructions and safety information. Wear hand and eye protection. WARNING: Disconnect all power to the circuit before starting installation to prevent risk of electrical shock. CAUTION: This product must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all national and local electrical codes.
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the liquidtight flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square end. For best results, use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw with 32 teeth/inch, or a power band saw with 24-32 teeth/inch (not exceeding 400 ft/minute). Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble the Connector Components onto the Conduit
For 5000, 7000, 9000 series, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, first slide the gland nut onto the prepared conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit end. For PVC coated connectors, tighten components using a smooth jaw wrench to prevent gouging; if metal is exposed, apply PVC cement.
- Install the Connector into the Knockout Box
Insert the connector body through the knockout hole in the box wall. For knockout applications, use a T&B 140 series locknut and a 5260 series sealing gasket (purchased separately) on the inside of the box. For 7000 and 9000 series, ensure you have the correct locknut (ordered separately). For Chase® connector assemblies, lock-up by tightening the Chase® Nipple to the body or by turning the body onto the Chase® Nipple.
- Secure the Connector with the Locknut
Tighten the locknut onto the connector body from inside the knockout box. Refer to the provided torque table for the correct tightening torque based on the fitting's trade size (e.g., 3/8" requires 200 lb.-in., 1/2" requires 300 lb.-in., 3/4" requires 500 lb.-in., 1" requires 700 lb.-in., 1 1/4" requires 1000 lb.-in., 1 1/2" requires 1200 lb.-in., 2" through 4" require 1600 lb.-in.). Ensure the connection is secure and liquidtight.
