This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing T&B liquidtight flexible metallic conduit connectors, ensuring high performance and reliability in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw (32 Tooth/ln.), Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set), Metal jig, Smooth jaw wrench, Torque wrench, Hand protection, Eye protection
Supplies needed:
T&B Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit connector, Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B 140 series locknuts (if required), 5260 series sealing gaskets (if required), PVC cement (optional)
- Prepare for Installation and Cut Conduit
Before beginning, read all instructions and safety information. Disconnect power to prevent risk of shock. Wear hand and eye protection. Cut the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square end using a sharp hacksaw (32 Tooth/ln.) or a power band saw (24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set, max 400'/minute). A metal jig can also be used.
- Assemble Connector Components onto Conduit
For 5000, 7000, 9000 series, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, first slide the gland nut onto the conduit. Next, slide on the nylon sealing ring. Finally, thread in the Safe Edge™ Cone. If using a PVC coated connector, tighten with a smooth jaw wrench. If gouging occurs and exposes metal, apply PVC cement.
- Secure Connector to Electrical Box
Insert the assembled connector body into the knockout opening of the electrical box. For knockout applications, use T&B 140 series locknuts and 5260 series sealing gaskets (purchase separately). Secure the connector by tightening the locknut to the connector body. Refer to the provided torque table for the correct tightening torque based on the fitting's trade size to ensure a liquidtight seal. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician.
