Overview

The ABB LTA10024 is a 1-inch steel liquidtight adapter designed for secure transitions between rigid and metric conduit systems. This adapter features a 1-5/16"-18 UNEF-2B internal thread size, enabling compatibility with AN-MS connector shells (sizes 25, 28). With a trade size of 1 inch, it maintains a sealed pathway for electrical conductors while preventing liquid and dust ingress in demanding industrial environments. Engineered for use with liquidtight flexible metal conduit, the LTA10024 provides a durable steel construction that resists physical damage and corrosion. Its dimensions measure 1-3/4 inches (A) with a secondary dimension of 1-23/32 inches (B), ensuring proper fitment in standard conduit runs. The adapter is part of the Thomas & Betts Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Fittings series, with UL File No. E23018 and CSA File No. 2884 for verified performance. It supports safe electrical infrastructure management in industrial, commercial, and hazardous locations where conduit integrity is critical.

How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing T&B liquidtight connectors with flexible metallic conduit. Ensure power is disconnected before installation and wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw (with 32 Tooth/ln. no. set), Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set, if high production), Metal jig (for conduit cutting), Smooth jaw wrench (for PVC coated connectors), Torque wrench, Safety glasses, Work gloves

Supplies needed:

T&B liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B liquidtight connector (appropriate series), T&B 140 series locknuts (for knockout applications, if needed), T&B 5260 series sealing gaskets (for knockout applications, if needed), PVC cement (optional, for PVC coated connectors)

  1. Prepare the Flexible Conduit

Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. Use a metal jig, a sharp 32-tooth-per-inch hacksaw, or a power band saw (24-32 tooth/inch wavy set, not exceeding 400 feet/minute). Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.

  2. Assemble Connector Components onto Conduit

For 5000, 7000, 9000 series, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, slide the gland nut onto the conduit first, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit end. For PVC coated connectors, if gouging occurs exposing metal during tightening, PVC cement is recommended.

  3. Install Connector into Enclosure Knockout

Insert the connector body through the knockout hole in the box wall. Position the blue insulator throat inside the box. Secure the connector by threading the locknut onto the connector body from inside the box. For knockout applications, use T&B® 140 series locknuts and 5260 series sealing gaskets (purchased separately). Tighten the locknut to the torque specified in the table (e.g., 200 lb-in for 3/8", 300 lb-in for 1/2", etc.).

  4. Secure the Flexible Conduit

Tighten the gland nut onto the connector body to firmly secure the flexible metallic conduit. Ensure the connection is tight to achieve a liquidtight seal.
