How to Install Elastimold Deadbreak Stand-Off Plugs

This guide provides instructions for the safe and proper installation of Elastimold 650SOP, K650SOP, and 750SOP Deadbreak Stand-Off Plugs, including lubrication and mounting procedures.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Hotstick

Supplies needed:

Lubricant, Stand-off plug assembly

  1. Prepare for Safe Installation

Before beginning, ensure all apparatus are de-energized. Inspect the stand-off plug and mating parts for any damage, verify ratings, and confirm compatibility. Have all required tools ready and maintain a clean work area.

  2. Lubricate the Stand-Off Plug Interface

Apply the supplied lubricant, or an ELASTIMOLD® approved lubricant, to the interface of the stand-off plug. Do not use substitute lubricants, as they may harm the product or its mating parts.

  3. Mount the Stand-Off Plug Assembly

Attach a hotstick to the eyebolt of the stand-off plug carriage assembly. Carefully slide the carriage assembly into the parking stand. Rotate the eyebolt clockwise until the carriage assembly is snug against the apparatus surface. Once secured, remove the hotstick from the eyebolt.

  4. Complete Installation and Follow Utility Procedures

With the stand-off plug assembly securely mounted, the physical installation is complete. From this point, follow standard utility procedures for connecting or isolating the associated elbow connector or insulated cap, ensuring all deadbreak connectors are de-energized before operation and mechanically secured if 200A.
