This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Thomas & Betts FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, specifically for 2/0 CS conductor sizes, ensuring a proper and sealed connection. WARNING: Danger of Electric Shock! Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable codes and safety rules.
Estimated time: 20m
Tools needed:
Cable cleaning tool, Pencil, Utility knife or cutting tool, Crimping tool, Wrench or socket
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Rocket Sleeve, Silicone grease, Cable (2/0 CS conductor size), Lug, Bus, Connector bar
- Clean the Cable
Clean the cable thoroughly before installing the rocket sleeve to ensure a proper seal and connection.
- Pencil Cable Insulation
Pencil the cable insulation to mark the appropriate stripping length or preparation area as required for the lug.
- Select and Cut Rocket Sleeve
Refer to the cable range shown in raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. For CFK 2/0 CS, match the conductor size to Cut Ring #4. Carefully cut off the tip of the sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave the required conductor range showing on the sleeve.
- Lubricate and Push Sleeve onto Cable
Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the prepared cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the opening of the sleeve. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it firmly onto the cable.
- Position Sleeve over Lug and Bus
Slide the rocket sleeve over the lug (which should be placed on the cable) and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue sliding until the rocket sleeve butts against the rubber of the connector bar.
- Compress the Lug
Using an appropriate crimping tool, compress the lug onto the cable to ensure a secure electrical and mechanical connection.
- Bolt Terminal to Bus
Securely bolt the terminal (with the crimped lug and positioned rocket sleeve) to the bus, ensuring all connections are tight and meet specifications.
