Overview

The ABB CFK 3/0 CS is a 95 Series Terminal Kit featuring an Aluminum Flood-Seal Multi-Port Connector designed for high-performance electrical installations. This Force-Fit kit ensures reliable terminations by accommodating multiple conductor types: concentric stranded 3/0 AWG, compressed stranded 3/0 AWG, compact stranded 4/0 AWG, and solid 4/0 AWG. The kit includes die reference 840,324,249,658,TX,76,11A, which is specifically engineered for proper crimping and consistent compression across all supported conductor sizes. The Flood-Seal design incorporates an environmental seal to prevent moisture, dust, and contaminants from compromising the connection, making it ideal for outdoor or harsh industrial applications. The aluminum construction provides excellent electrical conductivity while resisting corrosion, ensuring long-term performance in demanding environments. The force-fit mechanism delivers a mechanically robust and electrically stable termination, reducing the risk of loosening or intermittent faults over time. This terminal kit is part of ABB’s Installation Products portfolio, which is recognized for delivering durable and high-quality solutions in electrical infrastructure. The UNSPSC code for this product is 39121443.

How to Install the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Thomas & Betts FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, including cable preparation, sleeve cutting, lug compression, and final sleeve positioning. WARNING: Danger of Electric Shock! Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Wire strippers, Crimping tool, Wrench

Supplies needed:

FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, Cable, Lug, Silicone grease

  1. Clean the Cable

Clean the cable thoroughly before proceeding with the installation of the rocket sleeve to ensure proper adhesion and sealing.

  2. Pencil the Cable Insulation

Pencil the cable insulation to prepare it for the connector, ensuring the correct length of insulation is removed or prepared as needed for the lug.

  3. Select the Correct Cut Ring

Refer to the cable range shown in the raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. Match the conductor size being installed to the correct ring for your application.

  4. Cut the Rocket Sleeve

Cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave the required conductor range showing on the sleeve.

  5. Compress the Lug onto the Cable

Compress the lug securely onto the prepared cable using an appropriate crimping tool. Ensure a solid electrical and mechanical connection.

  6. Bolt the Terminal to the Bus

Bolt the terminal (lug with cable) firmly to the bus. Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent loosening or arcing.

  7. Lubricate and Slide Rocket Sleeve onto Cable

Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the opening of the sleeve. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable until it is fully seated.

  8. Position the Rocket Sleeve

Slide the rocket sleeve over the lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue pushing until the rocket sleeve butts firmly against the rubber of the connector bar, creating a flood-seal.
