This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, specifically for CFK 1/0 CS, including cable preparation, sleeve cutting, and final assembly. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules to prevent danger of electric shock.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Crimping tool, Wrench, Cutting tool (utility knife), Cleaning cloth, Pencil or marker
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Rocket Sleeve, Electrical Lug, Electrical Cable (1/0 AWG), Silicone Grease, Connector Bar, Bus Bar
- Clean the Cable
Thoroughly clean the cable surface before proceeding with the rocket sleeve installation to ensure proper adhesion and connection.
- Mark Cable Insulation
Pencil or mark the cable insulation to indicate the desired stripping or preparation point for the connector.
- Select Correct Cut Ring
Identify the appropriate cut ring on the rocket sleeve by matching the conductor size (1/0 AWG for CFK 1/0 CS) to the raised numbers on the sleeve. For CFK 1/0 CS, this corresponds to Cut Ring #3.
- Cut Sleeve Tip
Carefully cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected cut ring (Cut Ring #3 for 1/0 AWG). Ensure the cut leaves the required conductor range visible on the sleeve.
- Lubricate Sleeve and Cable
Apply silicone grease to both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable. Hold the cable at an angle to the sleeve opening and twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable for easier installation.
- Position Rocket Sleeve
Slide the rocket sleeve over the lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue pushing until the rocket sleeve firmly butts against the rubber of the connector bar, creating a secure seal.
- Compress the Lug
Use an appropriate crimping tool to compress the lug securely onto the cable, ensuring a strong electrical and mechanical connection according to manufacturer specifications.
- Bolt Terminal to Bus
Securely bolt the assembled terminal (lug with cable and sleeve) to the bus, ensuring proper torque according to applicable electrical codes and standards.
