Wire strippers, Wire brush, Crimping tool, Wrench, Butane torch, Propane torch, 500°F electric heat gun

Supplies needed:

FLOOD-SEAL 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kit, Electrical Cable, Joint compound

  1. Prepare Cable and Conductor

    Remove the cable insulation to the appropriate length. Thoroughly wire brush the conductor to ensure a clean surface for optimal connection.

  2. Position Heat Shrink Sleeve

    Slip the heat shrink sleeve over the prepared cable end. Ensure it is positioned far enough away from the conductor end to allow for crimping and connection.

  3. Crimp and Connect Lug

    Crimp the lug securely onto the conductor end. Wipe away any excess joint compound from the crimped area. Bolt the lug firmly to the contact pad on the FLOOD-SEAL connector bus.

  4. Position Sleeve Over Lug

    Slip the heat shrink sleeve over the crimped lug until it butts firmly against the FLOOD-SEAL connector bus, covering the connection point.

  5. Shrink Sleeve at Bus End

    Apply heat evenly to the sleeve at the connector bus end using a butane torch, propane torch, or 500°F electric heat gun. Move the heat source as visual shrinkage occurs. The seal is completed when a bead of mastic appears at the sleeve end.

  6. Shrink Sleeve Over Terminal Lug

    Working away from the connector bus, continue to apply heat and shrink the sleeve over the terminal lug. Ensure even heat application for a consistent seal.

  7. Shrink Sleeve Over Cable End

    Finally, shrink the remainder of the sleeve over the cable end. Continue applying heat evenly until a bead of mastic appears at this end, indicating a complete and watertight seal.
