Overview

The ABB 755BE 35kV 600 Series Deadbreak Bushing Extender (SKU: 755BE) is a fully shielded, submersible accessory designed to increase the distance between apparatus surfaces and cable entry points in medium-voltage systems. Rated for 35kV systems with a maximum phase-to-ground operating voltage of 21.1kV and phase-to-phase voltage of 36.6kV, this bushing extender meets ANSI/IEEE Standard 386 for deadbreak connectors. It features a 900A continuous current rating, 25kA symmetrical momentary rating (10 cycles), and a 150kV BIL impulse withstand (1.2 x 50 microsecond wave). The 10.27-inch length and 3.17-inch diameter housing accommodates tight enclosures while the 5/8-11 UNC-2A threaded stud enables direct attachment to ABB 600 Series deadbreak bushings without additional hardware. Constructed with 100% peroxide-cured EPDM materials for insulation and conductivity, the extender ensures safe, load-break-free connections in de-energized states using standard hand tools. Ideal for retrofitting installations requiring additional clearance, extending bushing wells in switchgear, or adapting terminations in confined spaces. Compatible with ABB 600 Series connectors including 775CP, 775BIP, 775J2/3/4, 775ETP, 775S1, and 775T1. Corona extinction at 26kV AC with 3pC sensitivity guarantees minimal electrical interference. No special training beyond basic medium-voltage electrical safety is required for installation.

How to Install the LINK-C Deadbreak Cam Link Operable Connector System

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe and proper installation of the LINK-C 600 amp deadbreak cam link operable connector system, including pre-installation checks, component assembly, lubrication, and grounding procedures. Ensure all safety warnings are observed.

Estimated time: 1h 30m

Tools needed:

Hot stick, Torque wrench, Suitable tool for 1 inch hex (e.g., socket wrench), Wire strippers, 600ATM Operating Tool

Supplies needed:

ELASTIMOLD supplied lubricant, #14 AWG or #12 AWG solid copper wire, Appropriate ground connector, Alignment bracket mounting hardware (hex bolts, lock washers)

  1. De-energize Apparatus and Inspect Components

DANGER: De-energize all apparatus before beginning installation or removal of any parts. Do not touch or move energized products. Inspect all package contents to ensure they are complete and undamaged. Verify all components for proper fit with the cable and/or mating products. Ensure all required tools are at hand and maintain cleanliness throughout the procedure.

  2. Install 600 Amp Elbow onto Cable

Install the 600 amp elbow onto the cable according to the installation instructions supplied with the elbow. Ensure it is positioned to align with the stand-off plug or apparatus bushing.

  3. Install Bushing Extender onto Apparatus Bushing

Clean and thoroughly lubricate the apparatus bushing and both interfaces of the 600 amp bushing extender with ELASTIMOLD supplied lubricant. Install the bushing extender onto the apparatus bushing. Insert the 600ATM into the retainer contact, engage the internal hex broach, and thread into the apparatus bushing using a suitable tool applied to the 1 inch hex portion of the 600ATM. Torque to 50-60 ft-lbs.

  4. Install Elbow onto Epoxy Standoff Plug

Clean and thoroughly lubricate the epoxy standoff plug and both interfaces of the 600 amp elbow with ELASTIMOLD supplied lubricant. Install the elbow onto the epoxy standoff plug. Insert the 600AMT into the retainer contact through the compression lug hole, engage the internal hex broach, and thread into the epoxy standoff plug using a suitable tool applied to the 1 inch hex portion of the 600AMT. Torque to 50-60 ft-lbs.

  5. Install Alignment Bracket

Remove the bushing extender clamp and elbow clamp from the alignment bracket. Position the alignment bracket on the bushing extender 2.5 inches (63.5mm) from the grounding eye. Assemble the bushing extender clamp to the alignment bracket with the supplied hardware, torquing by alternating sides until clamp tabs are flush and tight.

  6. Position and Secure Elbow in Alignment Bracket

Position the elbow in the alignment bracket so that the elbow cuff is lined up evenly with the bushing extender cuff. Assemble the elbow clamp to the alignment bracket with the supplied hardware, torquing by alternating sides until clamp tabs are flush and tight. Ensure the elbow clamp notch faces the cable entrance of the elbow.

  7. Insert Link into Bushing Extender and Elbow

Clean and thoroughly lubricate both 600 ampere interfaces of the Link with ELASTIMOLD supplied lubricant. Align the Link so it is perpendicular to the switch faceplate when inserted. Insert the Link into the bushing extender and elbow, ensuring both lever arms are on the inside of the alignment bracket legs.

  8. Engage Link Mechanism

Engage the pivot pin into the slots in the alignment bracket legs. While pushing inward, use a hot stick applied to the hot stick eye to move the lever arms downward. This action will engage the roller pin and move the Link inward. Continue moving the lever arms until they are perpendicular to the alignment bracket leg.

  9. Grounding and Mating Product Installation

Ground the elbow by feeding a #14 AWG or #12 AWG solid copper wire through the grounding eye, twisting it tight, and connecting it to ground. Clean and lubricate the 200 amp interface on the Link. Ground, then install the desired mating product on the 200 amp interface per its installation instructions. Ground the cable; if concentric neutral, twist wires and connect to ground; if using 20MA or 21MA devices, connect their ground lead to ground. For three-phase installations, tie all grounds to a common ground point.
