Overview

The ABB 5347-8PT is a 2-inch Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit (LFMC) 45-degree angle connector designed for secure, insulated connections in wet and corrosive environments. The nylon-insulated body and sealing ring prevent electrical shorts and corrosion, making it ideal for harsh industrial, commercial, and outdoor applications where moisture and debris are present. Key specifications include a 2-inch trade size, IP66/IP67 ingress protection rating, and a temperature rating of 80°C (176°F). The connector features a 45-degree angle for optimized cable routing in tight spaces, reducing bend stress on the conduit. The push-in design simplifies installation, while the included nylon locknut secures the fitting to knockout panels. For knockout applications, pair with the ABB 5267 sealing ring to ensure watertight integrity in Type 4 environments. Common applications include manufacturing plants, data centers, outdoor lighting systems, and hazardous locations where NEC Class I Div. 2, Class II Div. 1 & 2, and Class III Div. The connector is compatible with standard 2-inch LFMC and Type A liquidtight flexible non-metallic conduit, as well as rigid or intermediate metal conduit. The single-piece design reduces assembly time and eliminates the need for additional components in most applications.
  • 2-inch trade size for standard LFMC applications
  • 45-degree angle for optimized cable routing in tight spaces
  • Nylon-insulated body with IP66/IP67 ingress protection
  • UL-listed (File E23018) and CSA-certified for wet locations
  • Compatible with knockout panels; pair with ABB 5267 sealing ring for Type 4 environments

How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors for flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Sharp hacksaw, Metal jig, Power band saw, Smooth jaw wrench, Torque wrench, Safety glasses, Work gloves

Supplies needed:

Liquidtight flexible metallic conduit, T&B liquidtight connector (e.g., 5000, 7000, 9000, or 3300 series), T&B 140 series locknut (for knockout applications), T&B 5260 series sealing gasket (for knockout applications), PVC cement (optional)

  1. Prepare for Installation and Safety

Before starting, read all instructions and safety information. Disconnect all power to prevent electric shock. Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician following national and local electrical codes. Always wear hand and eye protection.

  2. Cut the Flexible Conduit

Using a sharp hacksaw (32 Tooth/ln. or 24-32 Tooth/ln. power band saw) or a metal jig, cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. Do not use an abrasive wheel.

  3. Assemble Connector Components

For 5000, 7000, 9000, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, first slide the gland nut onto the conduit. Then, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit end.

  4. Mount Connector to Box

Insert the assembled connector body into the knockout hole of the electrical box. For knockout applications, secure the connector using a T&B® 140 series locknut and a T&B® 5260 series sealing gasket on the inside of the box. Note: Locknuts for 7000 and 9000 series must be ordered separately.

  5. Tighten the Connector

Tighten the locknut to the connector body using a torque wrench, applying the specified torque from the table (e.g., 200 lb.-in. for 3/8", 300 lb.-in. for 1/2", up to 1600 lb.-in. for 2" and larger sizes). For PVC coated connectors, use a smooth jaw wrench; if gouging exposes metal, apply PVC cement.

  6. Install Chase® Connector (Optional)

If using 'Space Saver' Chase® connector assemblies, position the connector body outside the knockout. Achieve lock-up by either tightening the Chase® Nipple to the body or by turning the body onto the Chase® Nipple.
