How to Install the 5342SST6HT Stainless Steel Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing the 5342SST6HT 45-degree stainless steel liquid-tight fitting onto flexible metallic conduit and securing it to a box wall, ensuring a liquid-tight and dust-tight connection.

Supplies needed:
Liquid-tight flexible metal conduit, 5342SST6HT fitting, LNSS/050 locknut, 5262 seal gasket
- Prepare the Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig and a sharp hacksaw with 32 teeth per inch, or for high production, a power band saw with 24-32 teeth per inch operating at no more than 400 feet per minute. DO NOT USE AN ABRASIVE WHEEL, as this can damage the conduit.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the prepared conduit, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the conduit end. Ensure all components are oriented correctly as shown in the fitting diagram.
- Install Fitting into Box Wall
Insert the assembled fitting into the desired knockout opening in the box wall. For knockout applications, place the 5262 seal gasket against the box wall, then thread the LNSS/050 locknut onto the fitting. Hand-tighten the locknut, then further tighten it 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver or an equivalent method to secure the fitting firmly.
- Secure the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended value to ensure a liquid-tight and dust-tight seal. For the 1/2 inch NPT fitting, tighten the gland nut to 300 lb-in (33.9 N-m). Use a torque wrench for precise tightening.
