- Ensure Safety and Prepare for Installation
DANGER: All apparatus must be de-energized during installation or removal of parts. This product should be installed only by competent personnel trained in good safety practices involving high voltage electrical equipment. Inspect all parts for damage, rating, and compatibility with mating parts. Check the contents of the package to ensure they are complete and undamaged, and verify proper fit with the cable and/or mating products. Have all required tools at hand and maintain cleanliness throughout the procedure.
- Mount Connector Grip and Prepare Cable
Attach the connector grip to a suitable bracket using the bolts supplied with the bracket. Tie back the concentric neutral wires for the length specified in the terminator instructions plus dimension 'X' from the provided table. Prepare the cable as required for installing the terminator. Feed the prepared cable through the connector grip until the semi-conducting shield is at least 1-3/4 inches (45 mm) above the connector grip. Apply weather-proof plastic tape approximately two inches (50 mm) from the bottom end of the wire grip, tightly wrapping with a one-half tape width overlap 'down' the grip approximately one inch (25 mm) onto the cable.
- Install Terminator and Ground System
Clean the outer jacket and the exposed cable insulation above the connector grip. Install the terminator according to the specific instructions packed with the terminator. Ensure that the concentric neutral from the cable(s), the electrostatic drain wire(s) from the terminator(s), and the mounting bracket are all properly grounded to complete the installation.
