The Polaris SP4 Set Screw Plug is a replacement part that take the place of the secure removable plugs present in many Polaris pre-insulated connectors. This plug fits connectors sized for 4 AWG wires, covering the set screws used to tighten their connections. Protect the interior of your Polaris pre-insulated connectors, each port of which is pre-loaded with an oxide inhibitor to ensure a low-contact resistance connection, by guarding the set screws from outside contaminants. Polaris designs connectors for use in a wide range of splicing applications, including installation in cable trays, panel boards, ducts, raceways or troughs.

How to Install and Use the 272SOPA/372SOP Stand-Off Plug
This guide provides instructions for the safe installation and operation of the 272SOPA and 372SOP Stand-Off Plugs, designed to isolate and 'dead-end' loadbreak elbow connectors.

Hotstick, Electrostatic grounding lead, Cleaning supplies
Supplies needed:
Elastimold approved lubricant, Protective cap
- Prepare for Installation and Grounding
Before starting, ensure all apparatus is de-energized. Connect an electrostatic grounding lead to the grounding lug on the stand-off plug, then connect the opposite end to ground, leaving enough slack for hotstick operation. Remove the protective cap from the stand-off plug. Clean and lubricate the stand-off plug interface with an Elastimold approved lubricant; do not substitute. Always replace the protective cap when the stand-off plug is not in use.
- Mount the Stand-Off Plug to the Parking Stand
Rotate the eyebolt counterclockwise until the nut is in contact with the bracket. Attach a hot stick firmly to the eyebolt. Using the hot stick, slide the Stand-off Plug into the parking stand.
- Secure the Stand-Off Plug
Back off the hot stick. Rotate the eyebolt clockwise until the nut on the opposite end snugly wedges the stand-off plug to the underside of the parking stand. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLT to avoid damage.
- Connect a Loadbreak Elbow (Optional)
CAUTION: Verify that the ground lead is connected between the stand-off plug lug and ground before attempting to assemble an elbow. Do not attempt to attach the ground lead after the elbow is assembled. To connect, remove the ELASTIMOLD loadbreak elbow connector from its bushing (following its specific operating instructions). Insert the male contact of the loadbreak elbow into the stand-off plug and push it home with a fast, firm, straight motion. Ensure it is firmly in place and the locking ring is seated. Complete assembly is indicated by no portion of the yellow band being visible when viewed from the side.
