Overview

The nVent Internal Disconnect Shield (SKU: AID3215) is a 16-gauge steel barrier designed to mitigate incidental contact with the live line-side lugs of disconnect switches within industrial control panels. This Safety Orange shield, measuring 32" x 14.89" x 9.75", provides a physical separation, reducing the risk of electric shock and arc flash exposure. Its open-back design with mounting holes on back flanges allows for direct subpanel mounting. The shield accommodates variable-depth or cable-operated disconnect switches and is symmetrically designed for both left-hand and right-hand configurations. Key features include reinforced flanges, a quarter-turn slotted latch, and a spring-loaded slam latch with a 7mm square insert for secure closure. An integrated 110-degree door stop prevents accidental opening beyond a safe limit. Tool-less installation of wire entry is facilitated by wing nut secured top and bottom gland plates, with knock-outs and grommets provided. Ground studs are present on both the door and body. This product meets UL 508A Listed, cUL Listed per CSA C22.2 No 94 (Type 1), and NEMA/EEMAC Type 1 standards. It is suitable for new installations and retrofits, offering a practical solution for enhancing safety in electrical enclosures. Note: This shield mitigates incidental contact but does not contain or direct arc flash energy.
