Overview

The nVent AID1412 Small Internal Disconnect Shield (SKU: AID1412) is a 16-gauge steel barrier designed to enhance safety in industrial control panels by isolating internal disconnect switches. Measuring 13.5 x 12 x 6.5 inches (343 x 305 x 165 mm), this safety orange shield provides a physical barrier around live line-side lugs to reduce electric shock and arc flash risks. It supports disconnects rated 30-100A and is compatible with variable-depth or cable-operated disconnect switches. Key features include a quarter-turn slotted latch, spring-loaded slam latch with 7mm square insert, and 110-degree door stop for controlled access. Installation is tool-less via wing nuts, with top and bottom gland plates for wire entry. Ground studs are provided on both door and body. The open-back design with mounting holes on back flanges enables subpanel mounting. Rated IP30 and NEMA/EEMAC Type 1, it meets UL 508A and cUL Type 1 requirements. Ideal for retrofitting existing systems or new installations where access prevention to live components is critical.
