Install the VS-AVT-C02-L03 Absence of Voltage Tester (AVT) to verify a circuit is de-energized before opening an electrical enclosure.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, Crimping tool (if using certain connectors)
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws (for Isolation Module if not using DIN rail), Wire connectors (rated for application), Terminal blocks or power distribution blocks (optional), Yellow Instruction Label
- Prepare the Installation Location
Identify all sources of electrical energy in the equipment. Determine the point in the circuit where you will normally test for voltage. Mark this location on the yellow Instruction Label and prepare to apply it to the outside of the enclosure near the Indicator Module after installation.
- Mount the Indicator Module
Mount the Indicator Module into a standard 30 mm knockout with a notch on the electrical enclosure. Ensure the notch is positioned at the top. The maximum panel thickness for mounting is 0.25 inches (6.35 mm).
- Mount the Isolation Module
Mount the Isolation Module. This can be done by securing it to a DIN rail using the integrated clip or by surface mounting it using screws. Ensure the module is securely fastened.
- Connect Sensor Lead Wires
Connect the sensor lead wires to the circuit conductors and the protective earth (ground). Each conductor (L1, L2, L3, and GND) should have at least one sensor lead set. Do not mechanically connect sensor leads of the same label designation to each other. Trim excess sensor lead length; do not extend with a splice. Use approved connection methods and follow local codes and standards. Ensure the AVT is solidly grounded and bonded to the protective conductor terminal of the enclosure.
- Connect the AVT System Cable
Connect the Indicator Module and the Isolation Module using the provided AVT System Cable. Ensure the AVT System Cable is separated from sensor leads and other circuits by a minimum of 0.25 inches (6 mm).
- Verify Installation and Functionality
Apply the yellow Instruction Label to the outside of the enclosure near the Indicator Module. Perform the commissioning checklist to verify the correct function of the device after installation. Refer to the 'Commissioning Checklist' section in the manual for detailed procedures.
