How to Install the GPKBW432Y Punchdown System
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the GPKBW432Y Punchdown System for efficient wiring management.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, Punchdown tool
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Cable identification labels
- Mount the base
Use appropriate mounting hardware to install the base on a sturdy surface, ideally 68 inches from the floor for optimal height. Ensure the Panduit lettering is upright.
- Route the cables
Carefully route the cables through the designated slots in the base, ensuring that the cable jacket end is within 1/2 inch from where the cable pairs will be inserted.
- Prepare cable pairs
Strip back the cable jacket only as required for termination, maintaining the twists of the pairs up to the point of connection. Inspect the color placement of the cable pairs before proceeding.
- Terminate the wires
Using a punchdown tool, secure the cable pairs into the connecting block, ensuring the tool is perpendicular to the base for a proper termination.
- Install cross-connect wires
If cross-connecting, terminate the wires to the top of the connecting blocks or install GP6 PLUS patch cords as needed, referencing the wiring scheme for color placement.
- Label the installation
Add cable identification to the label, fold it, and slide it into the label holder. Snap the label holder into position on the base between the rows of connecting blocks.
