How to Install the GPB2884R4WJY Punchdown System
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the GPB2884R4WJY Punchdown System for efficient wiring management.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter, Punchdown tool
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Cable ties, Terminal connectors, Labels
- Mount the base
Use appropriate mounting hardware to secure the base on a flat surface at the recommended height of 68 inches from the floor. Ensure the Panduit lettering is upright.
- Route the cables
Feed the cables through the designated slots in the base, ensuring that the cable jacket ends are within 1/2 inch of where the cable pairs will be inserted.
- Prepare the cable pairs
Strip the cable jacket carefully, maintaining the twist of the pairs up to the termination point. Ensure not to damage the insulation on individual wires.
- Insert and cut the wires
Using the GPST single wire punchdown tool or GPDTM multi-pair punchdown tool, align the tool with the block and insert the wires into the correct color-coded slots. Use the high impact setting for the single wire tool.
- Secure the connecting block
Position the connecting block over the wired base and secure it in place using the punchdown tool, ensuring the tool remains perpendicular to the base for a proper termination.
- Terminate cross-connect wires
If cross-connecting, terminate the wires to the top of the connecting blocks or install GP6 PLUS patch cords as needed, following the color coding scheme.
- Label the cables
Add cable identification labels to the label holder, fold the labels, and slide them into position between the rows of connecting blocks.
