How to Install the FWMHSS-CG3448 Cable Gland
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FWMHSS-CG3448 cable gland to secure incoming fiber cables to the enclosure.
Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Phillips screwdriver, Socket (11/32) for hex nuts
Supplies needed:
Cable gland (FWMHSS-CG3448), Incoming cable plate, Mounting nuts, Heat shrink tubing (not included)
- Remove plastic plug
Locate the circular cutout on the enclosure where the cable gland will be installed. Remove the plastic plug by pinching the sides and pushing it toward the outside of the chassis frame.
- Install the cable gland
Insert the FWMHSS-CG3448 cable gland into the cutout. Secure it by tightening the mounting nuts from the inside of the enclosure.
- Attach the incoming cable plate
Align the incoming cable plate with the cable gland, ensuring it is positioned at a sufficient distance to allow ample workspace. Install the plate using the mounting nuts of the side or top/bottom cover plates.
- Prepare the incoming cable
Strip off the outer cable jacket of the incoming fiber cable to expose at least 20 feet of fiber. Route the fiber within the enclosure and secure it using the incoming cable plate.
- Secure the cable
Tighten the cable gland near the cut end of the cable jacket. Remove the buffer tubes, leaving 2-3 inch stubs for further processing.
- Install protective sleeving
If using breakout sleeves, install them according to the manufacturer's instructions. Use heat shrink tubing to secure the protective sleeving to the buffer tube.
