How to Install the MPO Splice-On Connector for Bare Ribbon and 3mm Round Fiber

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the MPO Splice-On Connector, ensuring proper assembly and safety during the process.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Fusion Splicer (Type-Q101-M12), Fiber Cleaver (FC-6RM), Jacket Remover (JR-6), Fiber Holder (FHM-12 or FHM-8), Fiber Alignment Tool (FA-03), Cord Tool (LYNX2-CORDTOOL-2&3), Kevlar Cutter

Supplies needed:

Disposable Holder, Dust Cap, Protection Sleeve, Adhesive, Mending Tape

  1. Prepare the Fiber

Mark the fiber at 150mm from the end and use the cord tool to create a slit in the outer sheath. Fold the slit sheath and Kevlar backward, securing them with mending tape.

  2. Assemble the Connector

Slide the Rear Parts, Spring, and Protection Sleeve onto the ribbon fiber. Set the fiber on the Fiber Holder and ensure it is properly aligned.

  3. Cleave the Fiber

Use the fiber cleaver to cleave the fiber, ensuring there is no gap. Clean the fiber with alcohol before proceeding.

  4. Set Up the Splicer

Place the fiber holder on the left side of the splicer and the MT stub on the right side. Perform an arc test to confirm the splicer is functioning correctly.

  5. Fusion Splice the Fiber

Fusion splice the fibers according to the splicer's instructions. After splicing, slide the Protection Sleeve to the MT stub.

  6. Finalize the Assembly

Heat the Protection Sleeve in the splicer, then remove the Dummy Cap and attach the Front Housing. Ensure all components are secure and aligned.
