- Prepare the tool for use
Inspect the tool for missing or loose pins. Close the tool and verify the handles return automatically. Inspect the crimping dies for any wear, chips, or breaks. Check for and remove any debris from the dies. If any parts are missing, defective, or damaged, contact Panduit for repair or replacement information.
- Insert and crimp the ferrule
With the handles open, insert the ferrule fully into the crimp pocket. Close the handles until the dies lightly grip the ferrule. Insert the stripped wire into the ferrule until it stops. Crimp the ferrule by closing the handles until the controlled cycle mechanism releases, causing the handles to open automatically. Remove the crimped ferrule. Ensure the entire uninsulated ferrule length is crimped; this may require additional crimps.
- Perform routine maintenance
Clean the tool by wiping it with a clean cloth. Lubricate all pins, pivots, and bearing surfaces with DOW CORNING® Molykote BR2 Plus. Before using the tool, be sure to clean any excess oil from the crimping dies.
- Store the tool
When the tool is not in use, keep the handles closed to prevent objects from lodging in the crimping area. Store the tool in a clean, dry area.
