Overview

The NSI Industries SGB-385CL is a zinc die-cast, insulated grounding split bushing engineered for 1-1/2 inch conduit systems. Designed to accommodate wire sizes from 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG, this bushing eliminates the need for pre-installation threading, allowing installation after wire pulls. The split design enables quick application without conduit pullers or bushing burn-through, reducing labor time and project costs. The integral grounding lug, constructed from aluminum alloy 6061-T6 with tin electro-plated finish, ensures a secure grounding connection rated to 150°C. With a ball-burnished, mirror-smooth zinc alloy finish and dimensions of 1.67" (A) x 2.57" (B) x 0.73" (C), this patented bushing meets Federal Specification A-A-50553 and NEMA FB-1 standards. Ideal for retrofits or new installations where conduit is already pulled, the SGB-385CL simplifies grounding while maintaining electrical safety and system integrity.
  • Zinc die-cast construction with ball-burnished mirror finish for durability
  • Split design installs after wire pull, eliminating threading or burn-through
  • Accommodates wire sizes 14 AWG to 1/0 AWG with aluminum alloy 6061-T6 grounding lug
  • Rated 150°C with cULus listing to UL514B and UL467 standards
  • UV-stabilized insulators and stainless steel hardware for outdoor/solar applications

How to Install the Mighty-BOND™ Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing

This guide provides instructions for installing the Mighty-BOND™ Split Grounding/Bonding Bushing. Its unique design allows for installation around conductors already pulled through the raceway, ensuring code-compliant grounding.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver

Supplies needed:

Grounding or bonding conductor

  1. Position the Bushing

Open the Mighty-Bond™ split bushing and place it around the conductors onto the threaded end of the Rigid Metal Conduit (RMC), Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC), or fitting.

  2. Close and Align the Bushing

Close the Mighty-Bond™ bushing and align it to access the set screw, grounding lug, and hinge screw. Ensure the set screw has been backed out sufficiently to allow the two halves to close fully on the threaded conduit or fitting. Make sure the bushing is as far down on the conduit or fitting threads as possible.

  3. Secure the Bushing

Tighten the hinge screw first, followed by the set screw. If applicable, tighten the enclosure bonding screw. Tighten all screws to UL Torque requirements (35 in-lb).

  4. Connect the Grounding Conductor

Insert the appropriate sized grounding or bonding conductor into the lug. Tighten the lug screw according to the UL Recommended lug screw torque table: 10-14 AWG Copper/10-12 AWG Aluminum (35 in-lb), 8 AWG Copper/8 AWG Aluminum (40 in-lb), 4-6 AWG Copper/4-6 AWG Aluminum (45 in-lb), 2/0-3 AWG Copper/2/0-3 AWG Aluminum (50 in-lb).
