Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Wire strippers, Wrench or Torque Wrench
Supplies needed:
Star Teck ST200-476 Cable Fitting, Armored Cable
- Prepare the Installation Area and Select Fitting
WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. Ensure the product is installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate Star Teck ST200-476 fitting to accommodate your enclosure and armored cable, noting its jacket range of 2.500-2.750 inches and armor range of 2.077-2.656 inches.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor and trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length of 2-1/2 inches, as specified for the ST200-476. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Insert Cable into the Gland Nut
Feed the prepared armored cable through the opening of the gland nut. Push the cable until its armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting.
- Secure and Seal the Cable Fitting
Tighten the gland nut using a wrench or torque wrench until an appropriate seal is obtained, or to the maximum torque of 1600 in-lbs for the ST200-476. Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered within the fitting to achieve an optimal and secure seal.
