This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of Star Teck™ PVC cable fittings, ensuring a secure and sealed connection for armored cables.

Hacksaw, Strap wrenches, Cable strippers or knife, Measuring tape or ruler
Supplies needed:
Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting (e.g., ST075-467SPVC), Armored cable, Wire pulling lubricant (optional, e.g., cat. number 15-236)
- Select the Appropriate Fitting
WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. CAUTION: Product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting that matches your enclosure and cable specifications. Refer to the product table in the documentation for compatibility.
- Prepare the Cable Armor
Determine the required working length of the cable. Carefully remove a portion of the outer jacket to expose the cable armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor to the specified strip length indicated in the product table, then trim the outer jacket to match the exposed armor length.
- Prepare the Cable Boot
Prepare the cable boot using one of two methods: Method 1: Unscrew the gland nut from the body, force the square-cut cable into the boot, and cut the boot in front of the cable. Method 2: Strip the cable jacket off the armor, then progressively cut slices off the boot until the opening can snugly slide onto the armor. CAUTION: Do not over strip the boot; ensure no gaps exist between the boot and the cable jacket.
- Insert Cable into Fitting
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening. Push the cable until its armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting. Apply wire pulling lubricant (e.g., cat. number 15-236) if needed for easier installation.
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Using strap wrenches (as PVC coated fittings should be installed with strap wrenches only), tighten the gland nut to achieve an appropriate seal or to the maximum torque specified in the product table. Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered for an optimal seal.
