How to Install the ST075-467S Star Teck Cable Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely installing the ST075-467S Star Teck cable fitting, including cable preparation, insertion, and sealing procedures for armored cable.
Estimated time: 20m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Wire strippers, Wrench or Torque Wrench
Supplies needed:
ST075-467S Cable Fitting, Armored Cable, Enclosure or Device
- Disconnect Power and Select Fitting
WARNING: Risk of shock. Disconnect all power to the enclosure or device before beginning installation. Select the appropriate ST075-467S fitting to accommodate the enclosure and the specific armored cable being used. Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
- Prepare the Cable Armor
Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor to the specified strip length as indicated in the product table for the ST075-467S (e.g., 1-1/4 inches). Trim the outer jacket to adjust the exposed armor strip length. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Insert Cable into Gland Nut
Feed the prepared armored cable through the opening of the gland nut. Push the cable firmly until the cable armor makes contact with the internal end stop of the fitting.
- Tighten the Gland Nut for Seal
Tighten the gland nut until an appropriate seal is obtained around the cable's outer jacket, or to the maximum torque specified in the product table for the ST075-467S (e.g., 600 in-lbs). Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable and that the cable remains centered within the fitting to achieve an optimal and secure seal.
