How to Install Star Teck™ ST050-465S Cable Fittings
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing Star Teck™ cable fittings, including cable preparation and securing the fitting to ensure an optimal seal. Always disconnect power before installation.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Wrench
Supplies needed:
Star Teck™ Cable Fitting (e.g., ST050-465S), Armored Cable
- Select the Appropriate Cable Fitting
Choose the correct Star Teck™ cable fitting that accommodates both the enclosure and the specific armored cable you are using. Consult the product table for fitting specifications and cable ranges.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. Determine the working length of the conductor required inside the enclosure or device. Remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Use a hacksaw to cut the armor and trim the outer jacket to the exposed armor strip length specified in the product table. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation.
- Insert Cable into the Gland Nut
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable until its armor makes firm contact with the internal end stop of the fitting.
- Tighten the Gland Nut for a Secure Seal
Tighten the gland nut using a wrench until an appropriate seal is obtained, or to the maximum torque value listed in the product table. Verify that the bushing seals evenly around the cable’s outer jacket and that the cable remains centered to achieve an optimal seal.
