How to Install Star Teck™ ST050-464SS Cable Fittings
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing Star Teck™ ST050-464SS cable fittings, including cable preparation and proper sealing to ensure compliance with electrical codes.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Wrench, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Star Teck™ ST050-464SS Cable Fitting, Armored Cable, Enclosure or Device
- Disconnect Power and Select Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect all power before beginning installation to prevent risk of shock. CAUTION: This product must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate Star Teck™ fitting (e.g., ST050-464SS) that matches your enclosure and the cable being used, referring to the provided table for specifications.
- Prepare the Cable Armor and Jacket
Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the exposed armor to the specified strip length from the table. Trim the outer jacket to adjust the exposed armor strip length. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Insert Cable into Gland Nut
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable until its armor firmly contacts the internal end stop of the fitting, as shown in Figure 3.
- Secure and Seal the Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut using a wrench until an appropriate seal is achieved or to the maximum torque specified in the table. Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered within the fitting for an optimal, watertight seal, as illustrated in Figure 4.
