Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hex wrench, Torque wrench, Wire strippers, Screwdriver
Supplies needed:
LRT connector body, Threaded stud, Set screw, Clear LRT insulator, Transformer bushing, Electrical cable, Ball bottom screw
- Place Connector Body and Tighten Stud Set Screw
Place the bare LRT connector body onto the threaded stud. Position it to allow proper cable training for left-hand, right-hand, or centered installation. Tighten the stud set screw to 300 in./lbs using a torque wrench.
- Position and Push Insulator
Position the clear LRT insulator according to the desired left-hand, right-hand, or centered installation. Push the insulator as far back onto the transformer bushing as possible.
- Align Screw Ports
Line up the screw ports on the insulator with the corresponding screws.
- Back Out First Screw
Back out the first screw to properly position the insulator on the bar before installing the first cable.
- Strip Cable
Strip the electrical cable insulation 1-1/4 inches to 1-1/2 inches using wire strippers.
- Push Cable Through Port
Push the stripped cable through the cable port, ensuring the cable insulation comes up to the connector body.
- Tighten Ball Bottom Screw to Cable
Tighten the ball bottom screw to secure the cable using a hex wrench. Refer to the torque chart: for #12 to #4 wire size, apply 120 in./lbs (10 ft./lbs); for #2 to 350 MCM wire size, apply 240 in./lbs (20 ft./lbs).
