This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FLOOD-SEAL 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kit (CFG-4/0-HS) for 4/0 AWG conductors, ensuring a secure and sealed electrical connection. WARNING: Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.

Tools needed:
Wire brush, Crimping tool, Wrench, Heat source (Butane torch, Propane torch, or 500°F electric heat gun)
Supplies needed:
FLOOD-SEAL 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kit (CFG-4/0-HS), 4/0 AWG electrical cable, Joint compound
- Prepare Conductor
Remove the cable insulation from the conductor end and thoroughly wire brush the conductor to ensure a clean surface for connection.
- Position Heat Shrink Sleeve
Slip the heat shrink sleeve, provided with the kit, over the prepared cable end, ensuring it is far enough back to allow for lug crimping.
- Crimp and Bolt Lug
Crimp the lug onto the conductor end. Carefully wipe away any excess joint compound that may be present. Then, bolt the lug securely to the contact pad on the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.
- Position Sleeve Over Lug
Slide the heat shrink sleeve forward over the crimped lug until it firmly butts against the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.
- Shrink Sleeve at Bus End
Apply heat evenly to the sleeve at the bus end using a butane torch, propane torch, or a 500°F electric heat gun (do not use Acetylene). The seal is complete when a bead of mastic appears at the sleeve end, indicating proper sealing.
- Shrink Over Terminal Lug
Continue applying heat, working away from the connector bus, to shrink the sleeve over the terminal lug. Ensure even heat distribution for a uniform shrink.
- Shrink Over Cable End
Finally, shrink the sleeve over the cable end, moving the heat source evenly along the sleeve. A complete seal is indicated when a bead of mastic appears at the cable end of the sleeve.
