This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing Thomas & Betts 'FLOOD-SEAL' 95 Heat Shrink Connector Kits, ensuring a secure and sealed electrical connection. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.

Tools needed:
Wire strippers, Wire brush, Crimping tool, Wrench or socket set, Butane torch, Propane torch, 500°F electric heat gun
Supplies needed:
Heat shrink sleeve, Terminal lug, FLOOD SEAL connector bus, Joint compound (if applicable)
- Prepare Cable and Conductor
Remove the appropriate amount of cable insulation from the cable end. Thoroughly wire brush the conductor to ensure a clean surface for connection.
- Position Heat Shrink Sleeve
Slip the heat shrink sleeve over the prepared cable end. Ensure it is positioned far enough back from the conductor end to allow for lug crimping and connection.
- Crimp and Connect Terminal Lug
Crimp the terminal lug securely onto the conductor end. Immediately wipe away any excess joint compound. Then, bolt the crimped lug firmly to the contact pad on the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.
- Position Sleeve over Lug
Slide the heat shrink sleeve forward over the crimped lug until it butts firmly against the FLOOD SEAL connector bus.
- Shrink Sleeve at Bus End
Apply heat evenly to the sleeve at the connector bus end using a suitable heat source (butane torch, propane torch, or 500°F electric heat gun). Continue shrinking until a bead of mastic appears at the sleeve end, indicating a complete seal.
- Shrink Sleeve over Terminal Lug
Working away from the connector bus, continue to apply heat evenly to shrink the sleeve over the terminal lug, ensuring a tight fit around the lug body.
- Shrink Sleeve over Cable End
Finally, apply heat evenly to shrink the sleeve over the cable insulation end. The seal is complete when a bead of mastic appears at this end, securing the entire connection.
