How to Install the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit, ensuring a proper and secure connection for various conductor sizes. Always follow local electrical codes and safety rules.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Cable cutting tool, Crimping tool, Wrench

Supplies needed:

FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Rocket Sleeve, Electrical lug, Silicone grease, Cable, Connector bar, Bus

  1. Clean the Cable

Clean the cable thoroughly before proceeding with the installation of the rocket sleeve. Ensure the cable surface is free from dirt, oil, or other contaminants.

  2. Pencil the Cable Insulation

Prepare the cable insulation by penciling it. This step helps in the proper seating and sealing of the connector components.

  3. Identify the Correct Cut Ring

Refer to the cable range indicated by raised numbers on each cut ring of the rocket sleeve. Match the conductor size being installed to the appropriate cut ring for your specific cable (e.g., CFG 8 CS).

  4. Cut the Tip of the Sleeve

Carefully cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring identified in the previous step. The correct cut will ensure the required conductor range remains visible on the sleeve.

  5. Lubricate and Install Rocket Sleeve onto Cable

Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the sleeve's opening. Twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it firmly onto the cable until it is properly seated.

  6. Compress the Lug onto the Cable

Using a suitable crimping tool, compress the electrical lug securely onto the prepared cable conductor. Ensure a strong, reliable electrical and mechanical connection.

  7. Slide Rocket Sleeve Over Lug and onto Bus

Slide the rocket sleeve over the compressed lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue pushing until the rocket sleeve butts firmly against the rubber of the connector bar, creating a seal.

  8. Bolt the Terminal to the Bus

Securely bolt the terminal (with the installed lug and rocket sleeve) to the bus. Ensure all connections are tight and meet specified torque requirements to prevent loose connections and potential hazards.
