How to Install the FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Connector Kit

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Thomas & Betts "FLOOD-SEAL"® FS-95 Force Fit Connector Kit, including preparing the cable and sleeve, and connecting the terminal. Installation must be performed by trained installers following all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Cable Cutter, Compression Tool, Wrench, Cleaning Cloth, Pencil

Supplies needed:

FLOOD-SEAL® FS-95 Rocket Sleeve, Electrical Cable, Electrical Lug, Silicone Grease, Terminal Bolt

  1. Clean Cable

Clean the cable thoroughly before proceeding with the installation of the rocket sleeve.

  2. Pencil Cable Insulation

Pencil the cable insulation to prepare it for the sleeve installation.

  3. Select Correct Cut Ring

Refer to the cable range shown in raised numbers on each cut ring. Match the conductor size of the cable being installed to the correct ring on the sleeve.

  4. Cut Sleeve Tip

Cut off the tip of the rocket sleeve up to the selected ring. The proper cut will leave the required conductor range showing on the sleeve.

  5. Lubricate and Install Sleeve onto Cable

Lubricate both ends of the rocket sleeve and the cable with silicone grease. Hold the cable at an angle to the sleeve's opening, then twist the rocket sleeve while pushing it onto the cable.

  6. Position Sleeve on Lug and Bus

Slide the rocket sleeve over the electrical lug and onto the shoulder of the bus. Continue pushing until the rocket sleeve firmly butts against the rubber of the connector bar.

  7. Compress Lug onto Cable

Use an appropriate compression tool to securely compress the electrical lug onto the cable.

  8. Bolt Terminal to Bus

Securely bolt the assembled terminal to the bus bar.
