This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing ABB ASP AL9CU aluminum compression splices, suitable for stranded, compressed, and compact aluminum and copper cables.

Wire brush, Appropriate crimping tool and die set (e.g., hydraulic or mechanical)

Supplies needed:

ASP AL9CU Aluminum Compression Splice, Aluminum or Copper Cable, Soap and water (for cleaning skin)

  1. Disconnect Power and Verify Cable Compatibility

    WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. Verify the wire size marked on the aluminum splice matches the actual cable size to be used. Ensure the product is installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

  2. Prepare the Cable Insulation

    Strip the cable insulation to the appropriate length, taking extreme care not to nick or damage the cable strands during the process.

  3. Clean the Cable Conductor
