Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
ALUMA-SHIELD® Aluminum Joint Compound, Terminal connectors, Mounting screws
- Prepare the cable
If the cable is insulated, strip the insulation carefully by whittling to avoid damaging the strands. Clean the aluminum cable with a wire brush or emery cloth to remove surface oxide.
- Apply joint compound
Smear a thin layer of ALUMA-SHIELD® Aluminum Joint Compound on the stripped aluminum cable. Ensure that the Main and Branch grooves of the connector remain filled with the pre-installed compound.
- Insert and crimp the connector
Center the stripped cable in the Main or Branch grooves of the connector. Close the FILLERLOK™ tab and use the appropriate crimping tool to compress the connector according to the specified number of compressions in the installation table.
- Inspect the connection
After crimping, inspect the connection for any sharp edges or burrs and remove them to ensure safety. Verify that the connection is secure and insulated properly.
