This guide provides instructions for installing the Flood Seal® Submersible Splice Cover, designed to maintain watertight integrity and full insulating value for low voltage cable splice joints, eliminating the need for taping. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules to prevent electric shock.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Cutting tool, Insulation beveling tool, Connector installation tool
Supplies needed:
Flood Seal® Submersible Splice Cover (FSS 20 or FSS 20L), Low voltage cable, Silicone grease, Electrical connector, Silicone sealant
- Select Correct Cut-Off Ring
Select the correct cut-off ring on the rocket sleeve and cap that corresponds to the specific cable size being used for the splice.
- Cut Rocket Sleeve and Cap
Cut off the rocket sleeve and cap at the tip of the arrow, ensuring that the correct cable size marking remains visible on the opened rocket and cap after the cut.
- Bevel Cable Insulation
Bevel or pencil the cable insulation by 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) to facilitate easier installation and proper seating of the splice cover components.
- Apply Silicone Grease
Apply a generous amount of silicone grease to the prepared cable insulation to aid in sliding the cover components and ensure a good seal.
- Slide Rocket and Cap Over Cable
Slide the cut rocket sleeve and cap over the prepared cable, positioning it appropriately for the upcoming connector installation.
- Install Electrical Connector
Install the electrical connector onto the prepared cable ends according to the connector manufacturer's instructions, ensuring a secure and proper connection.
