Wire strippers, Wire brush or emery cloth, Crimping tool (appropriate die)
Supplies needed:
54820SP Two Way Splicer, Insulating method (e.g., shrink tubing, adhesive pad)
- Prepare the cable
Strip the insulation from the cable to the length specified in the product's table. Ensure the cable strands are not nicked and the cable end is clean. Use a wire brush or emery cloth if necessary.
- Insert cable into connector
Insert the prepared cable end into the 54820SP connector until it stops.
- Crimp the connector
Insert the connector into the appropriate die on your crimping tool. Compress the connector between the markings according to the number of compressions specified for your connector and die combination. Ensure you are using the correct installing die as specified in the product's table. WARNING: DO NOT CRIMP ON ENERGIZED WIRES.
- Finish the connection
After crimping, remove any sharp edges, flash, or burrs from the connection. Apply the appropriate insulating method as shown in the product's table.
