This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B 5374 series liquidtight connectors for flexible metallic conduit, ensuring a secure and reliable connection.

Hacksaw (32 Tooth/ln. no. set, sharp), Power band saw (24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set, not more than 400’/minute), Metal jig (optional, for cutting conduit), Smooth jaw wrench (for PVC coated connectors)
Supplies needed:
Liquidtight flexible metal conduit, T&B® 140 series locknuts (for knockout applications, purchase separately), T&B® 5260 series sealing gaskets (for knockout applications, purchase separately), PVC cement (if needed for PVC coated connectors), Hand protection, Eye protection
- Prepare for Installation and Ensure Safety
Before beginning, read and understand all instructions and safety information. Disconnect all power to the circuit where the connector will be installed to prevent risk of shock. Ensure installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Wear appropriate hand and eye protection throughout the process.
- Cut the Flexible Conduit
Cut the flexible conduit with a clean, square end. For best results, use a metal jig, a sharp hacksaw with a 32 Tooth/ln. no. set, or a power band saw with a 24-32 Tooth/ln. wavy set operating at no more than 400 feet per minute. Do not use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble Connector Components onto the Conduit
For 5000, 7000, and 9000 series (including 5374 series) and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the Safe Edge™ Cone onto the conduit, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Secure the Connector Body to the Knockout Box
Insert the connector body through the knockout hole in the box wall. For knockout applications, use a T&B® 140 series locknut and a T&B® 5260 series sealing gasket (both purchased separately) on the inside of the box. Securely tighten the locknut onto the connector body to the specified torque for your fitting size (e.g., 200 lb-in for 3/8" fitting, 300 lb-in for 1/2" fitting). Refer to the provided torque table for exact values.
- Tighten the Gland Nut for a Liquidtight Seal
Once the connector body is securely attached to the box, firmly tighten the gland nut onto the connector body. This action compresses the sealing ring and cone, creating a liquidtight seal around the flexible conduit. For PVC coated connectors, use a smooth jaw wrench to avoid gouging; if metal is exposed, apply PVC cement.
