How to Install T&B Liquidtight Connectors
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of T&B liquidtight connectors with flexible metallic conduit, ensuring high performance and reliability. Always disconnect power before installation and ensure the product is installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Metal jig (optional, for conduit cutting), Smooth jaw wrench (for PVC coated connectors), Torque wrench, Safety glasses, Work gloves
Supplies needed:
T&B Liquidtight Connector, Liquidtight Flexible Metallic Conduit, Locknut (if not included with connector), Sealing gasket (if not included with connector), PVC cement (optional, for PVC coated connectors)
- Prepare the Flexible Conduit
Cut the liquidtight flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square end. Use a metal jig or a sharp hacksaw with 32 teeth/inch. For high production, a power band saw with 24-32 teeth/inch at no more than 400 feet/minute is recommended. Do not use an abrasive wheel. Wear eye protection and hand protection during this step.
- Assemble the Connector Components
For 5000, 7000, 9000, and PVC coated 3300 series connectors, slide the gland nut onto the conduit, followed by the nylon sealing ring. Then, thread in the Safe Edge™ Cone. If using a PVC coated connector, tighten with a smooth jaw wrench to prevent gouging; apply PVC cement if gouging occurs. For knockout applications, ensure you have T&B 140 series locknuts and 5260 series sealing gaskets (purchased separately).
- Secure the Connector to the Enclosure
Insert the connector body through the knockout hole in the enclosure. Secure it with the locknut, ensuring the 'Box side' of the connector is correctly positioned on the outside of the box. Tighten the locknut to the specified torque using a torque wrench (e.g., 200 lb-in for 3/8", 300 lb-in for 1/2", 500 lb-in for 3/4", 700 lb-in for 1", 1000 lb-in for 1 1/4", 1200 lb-in for 1 1/2", and 1600 lb-in for 2" to 4" sizes). For Chase® connector assemblies, tighten the Chase® Nipple to the body or turn the body onto the Chase® Nipple to lock it up.
