How to Install the 5341SST6HT Liquid-Tight Flexible Metallic Conduit Fitting
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for properly installing the 5341SST6HT stainless steel liquid-tight fitting onto flexible metallic conduit and securing it to a box wall, ensuring a liquid-tight and dust-tight connection.

Hacksaw, Standard Screwdriver, Hammer, Torque Wrench
Supplies needed:
Liquid-tight flexible metallic conduit, Seal Gasket (e.g., 5261 for 3/8" NPT), Stainless Steel Locknut (e.g., LNSS/038 for 3/8" NPT)
- Prepare the Flexible Metallic Conduit
Cut the end of the flexible metallic conduit with a clean, square cut. Use a metal jig or a sharp hacksaw with 32 teeth/inch. For high production, use a power band saw with 24-32 teeth/inch at no more than 400 feet/minute. DO NOT use an abrasive wheel for cutting.
- Assemble Fitting Components onto Conduit
Slide the gland nut onto the cut end of the flexible conduit. Next, slide the nylon sealing ring onto the conduit. Finally, thread the SAFE-EDGE® ground cone into the conduit end.
- Mount Fitting to Box Wall
Insert the assembled fitting through the knockout hole in the box wall. Ensure the seal gasket (e.g., Part No. 5261 for 3/8" NPT) is positioned between the fitting body and the exterior of the box wall for liquid-tight and dust-tight installations. From the inside of the box, thread the stainless steel locknut (e.g., Part No. LNSS/038 for 3/8" NPT) onto the fitting.
- Secure Locknut
Hand-tighten the locknut against the box wall. Then, further tighten the locknut by an additional 1/4 turn using a hammer and a standard screwdriver, or an equivalent method, to ensure a secure connection.
- Tighten Gland Nut
Tighten the gland nut to the UL recommended torque value. For the 5341SST6HT (3/8" NPT) fitting, tighten to 235 lb-in (26.6 N-m) to achieve a liquid-tight seal.
