Long Stud Double Service Post Connectors for Conductors 8 - 12 Stranded, 8 - 12 Solid, Stud Size 1/4 - 20 x 1How to Install the 3900 Signal Reference Grid Clamp
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the 3900 Signal Reference Grid Clamp onto a support post, securing a bare grid wire. This clamp is not to be used for grounding fault currents.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Nut runner hand wrench, Ratchet wrench, Screwdriver
Supplies needed:
Bare grid wire, Support post
- Prepare the Support Post and Grid Wire
Ensure the support post surface is clean, free of dirt, paints, electrical tape, rust, or any other material that might form an insulating layer. If the grid wire has insulation, remove it wherever the wire will connect to the support post to expose bare wire.
- Position the Clamp on the Support Post
Assuming the grid wire is already positioned, slip the clamp around the vertical support post with its slot facing upward. Note: If installing on a 3/4" square trade size post, you may need to hand-hold the clamp to maintain its position during installation.
- Secure the Grid Wire and Tighten the Clamp
Lay the bare grid wire into the clamp's slot. While holding the wire at the bottom of the slot, tighten the screw using a nut runner hand wrench, ratchet wrench, or screwdriver. The clamp will rotate slightly downward during installation to firmly secure the grid wire against the support post.
