Special Features | Power Cable Joints utilize permanently crimped connectors. PCJ housings are fully insulated, shielded and sealed for direct-burial, vault, submersible and other servere service applications. Units have been designed and tested per IEEE Standard 404 to ensure system matched performance and ratings equal to the cable to which the splice will be installed. Power Cable Joints are available in two styles. Style 1 uses a single-piece housing that is sized to accommodate a specific range of cable - ideally suited to straight splicing of the same or similar cable. Style 2 designs incorporate a universal housing with separate cable adapters to allow transition splices of different types and sizes of cable |

What material are PCJ power cable joints made from?
PCJ power cable joints feature permanently crimped connectors inside ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber housings.
What safety feature does the molded conductive shield provide?
The molded conductive shield provides a virtually unbreakable ground shield, enabling true dead-front construction for enhanced safety.
What are the benefits of the pre-molded rubber housing?
The pre-molded rubber housing offers exceptional protection, extended shelf life compared to cold-shrink splices, and long-lasting service life in harsh environments.
Where are Elastimold PCJ power cable joints manufactured?
Elastimold PCJ power cable joints are assembled and 100% factory tested in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA.
What standards do PCJ joints meet?
The shield design meets IEEE 592 standard. The connectors meet ANSI 119.4 Class A and Class 3 ratings.
What is the continuous current rating of PCJ joints?
The continuous current rating of PCJ power cable joints is equal to that of the cable rating.
Can PCJ joints be used with shielded or lead-jacketed cables?
Yes, PCJ joints work with fabric-tape shielded or lead-jacketed cables when used with the proper Elastimold cable shield adapter or grounding device.
Do PCJ joints require taping at the cable entrance?
No, the cable entrance of PCJ joints engages the insulation shielding of the cable, eliminating the need for taping.
What cable types are PCJ joints designed for?
PCJ power cable joints are designed for use with UD cable with concentric neutral and extruded insulation shielding.
What are the two styles of PCJ power cable joints?
Style 1 is for straight splicing of two similar cables. Style 2 includes separate cable adapters for transition splicing between two different cable sizes.
