How to Install the 35MTB5-T Bracket Assembly
This guide details the installation of the 35MTB5-T bracket assembly for mounting three premolded rubber terminators directly to a riser pole, including securing the bracket, applying weather-proof tape, and ensuring proper grounding.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Wrench or Socket Set, Measuring Tape
Supplies needed:
Pole Mounting Bracket, Tri-Mount Bracket, 3 Connector Grips, 3-1/2 x 1” Lg Carriage Bolt with Nut and Lock washer, 3-3/8 x 1” Lg Hex Bolt with Nut and Lockwasher, Proper size bolts (for attaching pole-mounting bracket to surface), Weather-proof plastic tape, Cables (to be terminated), Terminators, Suitable grounding connector, Grounding wire
- De-energize Apparatus and Inspect Components
Before beginning installation, ensure all apparatus is de-energized to prevent serious injury or fatality. Inspect all components of the 35MTB5-T bracket assembly for any damage, verify their ratings, and confirm compatibility with mating parts and cables. Read all instructions thoroughly before proceeding.
- Attach Brackets and Connector Grips
Secure the pole-mounting bracket to the desired mounting surface using appropriate size bolts (not supplied). Attach the tri-mount bracket to the pole-mounting bracket using the supplied 3/8-16 x 1” hex bolts, nuts, and lock washers. Then, attach the connector grips to the tri-mount bracket using the supplied 1/2” x 1” carriage bolts, nuts, and lock washers. Feed the cables through the connector grips, allowing sufficient length for terminator installation.
- Apply Weather-proof Tape to Wire Grips
Apply weather-proof plastic tape approximately 2 inches from the bottom end of each wire grip. Tightly wrap the tape with a one-half tape width overlap, moving downwards approximately 1 inch onto the cable. Reverse direction and wrap upwards to the starting point, stretching the tape to approximately one-half its original width while taping the wire grip.
- Install Terminators
Install the terminators onto the prepared cables and bracket assembly. Refer to the specific terminator installation instructions for detailed guidance on this procedure, as those instructions are separate from this document.
- Ground the Assembly
Ensure proper grounding for the entire assembly. Connect the concentric neutral from the cable(s), the electrostatic drain wire(s) from the terminator(s), and the mounting bracket to a suitable grounding connector (not supplied). The mounting bracket is provided with a mounting hole and bolt for this attachment.
