How to Install the 274J4WB Two--, Three--, and Four--Point Loadbreak Junctions
Installation guide for mounting and wiring the 274J4WB loadbreak junctions. Ensure all apparatus is de-energized before beginning.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Level, Drill, Wrench
Supplies needed:
Mounting brackets with hardware, Lubricant, Grounding wire, Insulated caps or connectors
- Attach mounting brackets and position junction
Loosely attach the universal mounting brackets to the junction back plate. Position the assembly against the wall and adjust the brackets for proper alignment. Mark the bracket locations on the wall.
- Mount the brackets to the wall
Detach the universal mounting brackets from the junction back plate. Mount the brackets to the wall according to the marks made in the previous step. Ensure the brackets are securely fastened.
- Attach the junction back plate
With the universal mounting brackets securely fastened to the wall, attach the back plate (with the junction assembled) to the mounting brackets. Ensure the parking stands are in the upright position.
- Adjust mounting angle
Adjust the mounting angle of the junction to the desired position. The mounting angle can be adjusted from 0 to 90 degrees in 15-degree increments.
- Secure the assembly
Tighten all bolts securely to ensure there is no movement during operation. Verify that the assembly is stable.
- Ground the back plate
Ground the back plate using the provided grounding lug. This lug accommodates wire sizes from No. 10 Solid to No. 1 Stranded.
- Prepare and connect mating products
Thoroughly clean the bushing interface of any contaminants and lubricate it with the supplied lubricant. Install the mating products to the bushing insert, following the instructions provided with those products. Ensure the yellow band is not visible when viewed from the side, indicating full elbow seating.
- Install protective caps on unused interfaces
WARNING: If all operating interfaces are not utilized, an Elastimold 273DR insulated cap MUST be installed on the unused interface(s) before energization. Do not use protective shipping covers for this purpose.
