What is the product's primary application?
The Elastimold 274FLR protects light duty underground distribution systems, including sub-loops and radial taps, by replacing existing 200 Amp loadbreak tap elbows.
Does the product include a fuse?
No, the fuse for the 274FLR is ordered separately.
What sealing kit is for jacketed concentric neutral cables?
For jacketed concentric neutral cables, use the 200ECS sealing kit or add suffix "-S" for cables with nominal O.D. within 0.80-1.50 inches.
Are sealing and grounding kits recommended?
Yes, a sealing and grounding kit with the loadbreak elbow is highly recommended for safety purposes.
What items are included in the 274FLR kit?
Each kit contains an elbow connector housing, a crimp connector, a probe lug, lubricant tubes, installation instructions, a crimp chart, and a V.D Cap-Peroxide.
What standards does the 274FLR meet?
The 274FLR meets IEEE 386, ANSI C37.40, ANSI C37.41, and ANSI C37.47, Latest Revision.
Is the fused elbow submersible?
Yes, the Elastimold 274FLR is fully sealed and submersible when used with ECS series sealing kits.
What is the current rating range for the fuse?
The current rating for the fuse is 6-20 Amps.
What is the interrupting capability?
The fused elbow has a symmetrical interrupting capability of 50,000 Amps. It features full-range current-limiting fusing.
What is the nominal fuse voltage?

How to Install the 274FLR Loadbreak Fused Elbow Connector
This guide provides detailed instructions for the safe installation and assembly of the 274FLR Loadbreak Fused Elbow Connector, including cable preparation, component assembly, and neutral connections. Ensure all safety precautions are followed.
Estimated time: 2h
Tools needed:
Probe Wrench, Torque-limiting Allen Wrench, Wire brush, Crimp tool, Hotstick tool
Supplies needed:
Cable Half Housing, Elbow Half Housing, Fuse, Compression Lug, Probe, Probe Connector, Hose Clamp, Lubricant, No. 14 AWG Copper Wire, Grounding Connector, 200ECS Cold Shrink Cable Seal (optional)
- Prepare the Cable for Termination
De-energize all apparatus before starting. Cut excess cable 20 inches minimum beyond the bushing. Remove the jacket for the specified length and prepare the concentric neutral wires by folding and binding them. Cut 1-1/8 inches squarely from the cable end, taking care not to nick the conductor. Wire brush bare aluminum conductors and immediately install the compression lug, crimping it securely according to the crimp chart. Remove the insulation shield 5-1/2 inches from the lug end and bevel the insulation 1/8 inch maximum. Thoroughly clean the insulation to remove all traces of conductive residue.
- Assemble the Cable Half Housing and Fuse
Apply the supplied lubricant to the outside of the connector, cable insulation, conductive shield, and the cable entrance end of the Fused Elbow cable half housing. Insert the connector and cable into the cable half housing until the top end of the connector protrudes beyond surface 'A'. Insert the threaded terminal end of the fuse into the cable half housing and hand-tighten it into the cable connector. CAUTION: The fuse stud will fracture if over-torqued. Pull the housing up against the bottom of the tightened fuse.
- Install the Probe Connector
Assemble the probe connector to the fuse terminal. Rotate the probe connector so that its flats are perpendicular to the bushing with which it will mate. Lock the probe connector in position by tightening the setscrews using the special torque-limiting allen wrench supplied in the fuse kit. Rotate the cable half of the Fused Elbow so that its test point is perpendicular to the flats on the probe connector.
- Assemble the Elbow Half Housing and Probe
Apply lubricant to the elbow half of the fused elbow and assemble it to the cable half, ensuring the cuff of the cable half overlaps the elbow half by 3/4 inch. Verify that the probe connector faces the opening of the fused elbow half and that the two test points are in line with each other. Insert the probe into the probe connector, pushing on the cable if necessary to align it with the fuse. Start the threads by hand, taking care not to cross-thread. Tighten the probe using the special torque-limiting allen wrench supplied until the wrench bends and remains bent. Position and tighten the hose clamp, but DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
- Connect Concentric Neutral Wires
Using a separate copper wire (No. 14 AWG / 2.5mm or equivalent), insert one end through each grounding eye on the elbow housing and cable housings. Twist tightly, taking care not to damage the eyes. If a 200ECS jacket seal is used, finish its installation. Twist all neutral wires, exercising care not to damage grounding eyes, and connect them to ground using an appropriate connector. Provide adequate slack in the wires for elbow operation.
- Connect the Elbow to the Bushing Plug
Lubricate the receptacle portion of the elbow connector and the mating bushing with the lubricant supplied. LUBRICATE ONLY IF THE TRANSFORMER AND ELBOW ARE KNOWN TO BE DE-ENERGIZED. Securely fasten a hotstick to the loadbreak connector pulling eye. Place the elbow connector receptacle over the bushing plug, inserting the elbow male contact until the first slight resistance is felt. Immediately push the elbow home with a fast, firm, straight motion to apply sufficient force to engage the internal lock on the elbow connector and bushing interface. DO NOT OPERATE BY HAND.
